The Laughing Kookaburra (Dacelo novaeguineae) is native to the eucalyptus forests of eastern Australia. Famous for their distinctive laughter, their territorial call begins with the cackle of a single bird, with others soon joining in. Throwing their heads back they erupt into their loud "koo koo koo kaa kaa kaa" laugh which echoes through the trees, as they confirm their status of "King of the Bush".
