Rivets and Steel
Rivets and Steel
6 million rivets and 52,800 tonnes of steel were used to build the Sydney Harbour Bridge, which was completed in 1932 after 8 years of construction. Each rivet was heated by the "rivet cooker", who threw the red hot rivet to the "rivet catcher" who then inserted it into the steel plates and girders to hold them in place.
