Immigrant Suitcases At Ellis Island

The display of suitcases and trunks at Ellis Island hold the stories of millions of immigrants to America who passed through the Immigration Station during the early 1900’s. At its peak, 11,747 immigrants were processed on 17th April 1907. Ellis Island became known as the Gateway to America and is located off the southern tip of Manhattan Island, New York.
